WATER BOOSTS

It’s no secret that for most of us drinking an adequate amount of water on a daily basis can be a difficult task. We all have those days when water just makes us grumpy and we rebel against it! Since most of you are competing right now, I thought it was pretty important to address some easy and tasty additions that you can add to your water. Water is such a fundamental component for athletic performance and health. The process of eating healthy and drinking water falls down to consistency. However, in order to be consistent you MUST look forward to the drinks and foods you consume. So, instead of building a negative feeling toward boring old water, let’s make it tasty so you actually look forward to it!

 

Tasty Additions to add to water:

  • Freeze some fresh fruit like apples, grapes, oranges and lemons. They freeze well and add a nice refreshing flavor to water. (most organic fresh frozen berries taste great too)
  • Add some fresh spices or fresh herbs like a sprinkle of cinnamon with fresh mint leaves. Pick and choose any herbs or spices you like and add a little dash to your water.
  • 100% pure essential oils are another great addition in moderation. Feeling a little sick add a drop or two of 100% oregano oil (watch out it is spicy) or some citrus oil for an energy boost. They are very concentrated and meant to be healing, so adding oils to your water should be a “treating” or “healing” remedy.
  • Alkalizing vegetables and roots like cucumbers, celery, ginger and turmeric root make tasty water additions.

NICOLE’S FAVORITE WATER MIXES:

PERFORMANCE WATER BOOST:

1 liter of water

½ sliced cucumber

¼ frozen apple

1 tsp raw cinnamon

Instructions: Use a glass liter mason jar with a lid that seals tightly. Chop the apple and cucumber for medium thickness. Place water and all ingredients in the jar. Then place cinnamon in the jar and shake well. VOILA…tasty water that assists physical and mental performance and tastes awesome!

WELLNESS WATER BOOST:

1 liter of water

1 inch of medium sliced organic ginger root

2 tbs fresh mint leaves

2 medium orange slices

Instructions: Use a glass liter mason jar with a lid that seals tightly. Thinly slice the ginger root and orange. Then massage the mint leaves so they release some moistness. Place all ingredients in the water and ENJOY!

BAM! Tasty and nutrient filled water! :-D
