Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable

It doesn't sound too inviting does it?

"Comfort" is; 1. a state of physical ease and freedom from pain or constraint. 2. the easing or alleviation of a person's feelings of grief or distress.

Now imagine that you are in a Fitness competition, you have 1 minute remaining on the clock to complete as many burpees as you can. Your outcome of this final minute, will be determined by how hard you choose to push, how bad you want to win the test, and how long you can stay in the uncomfortable state of sweat in your eyes, the burn of lactic acid in your legs, the burning lungs from trying to keep up enough air flow to support your heart rate that is shooting through the roof...........THAT is "getting comfortable with being uncomfortable."

With The 2016 CrossFit OPEN only a short 17 days away, some of you will need to understand the importance of getting uncomfortable. If you want to do well in The OPEN workouts, you will need to "go there", you will need to push yourself beyond those comfort levels. Those who come out on top, (in addition to having the necessary skills), have the mental capacity, will, and strength to stay uncomfortable longer than others.

Looking forward to a FUN 5 weeks of not only competition, but personal growth for EVERYONE who participates! Be ready to push yourself in these tests and be willing to learn from the experience.

Make it a great week of Fitness friends!!
