RAW ALMOND MILK RECIPE
Homemade Raw Almond Milk is one of my FAVORITES! One of the BEST things about making homemade nut milks is how diverse they are. The recipe below is a standard recipe. Feel free to add ingredients for flavors YOU like :-D
RAW ALMOND MILK RECIPE:
- 1 cup of organic raw almonds
- 3 cups of filtered water
- 1/2 tsp celtic sea salt
- 1 tsp vanilla bean powder (1 tsp of organic vanilla extract works too)
- 2-3 organic medjool dates
- 1 nut milk bag (you can purchase online for less than $10.00)
INSTRUCTIONS: First crush the almonds into pieces and soak them overnight in filtered water (soak for at least 8 hours). Once the almonds have been soaked place them in a blender with all the other ingredients. Then blend for several minutes on high speed until the milk looks thick and creamy. You want to make sure all ingredients are blended to liquid. Using your nut milk bag strain the milk into a large mouth glass jar. The nut milk bag will release some of the liquid as you pour the contents in. In order to get all the "milk" out you will need to twist and squeeze the bag until all that is left is almond pulp. Save and freeze the almond pulp because it makes GREAT cookies (I will share a recipe for that next week!).
SPECIAL TIP: If you like chocolate milk feel free to add some raw cacao powder and cinnamon to your recipe. If you like mocha flavored milk, try adding 1 tsp of organic light roast coffee beans. There are SO many ways to flavor the milk to what makes your taste buds sing!
