After college, once I started working, I became pretty sedentary and gained a lot of weight. When I finally had enough, I spent a few years on the elliptical machines at the gym until I could start running around town. It wasn’t until I did a Tough Mudder with some friends already involved in CrossFit that I decided to look into it. I left the Mudder looking for that same feeling of accomplishment that you simply don’t get from your local gym or jogging around town. As a result, I signed up to do my On Ramp Program at C5 in January of 2014 and have been addicted ever since.
I grew up playing baseball, but also sprinkled in some high school football to stay busy in the Fall. Along with my sister, I also started Shorin-Ryu Karate as a pre-teen until I eventually earned my Black Belt around the age of 14. I stayed pretty active throughout college with various intramural sports, but nothing that competitive or rewarding until CrossFit.
Sleeping in on Saturday, hiking the Central Coast, and anything related to Chicago sports. From beach volleyball to cornhole, I love to stay active and enjoy the competitive element in most anything.
